Food was good, however the service was slow. Not the fault of the employees because they were overwhelmed by too many people. 2 waiters for over 70 people are too few.

Food is good and well portioned. Waiting staff always on the look out for the needs of customers, well done. Some attention to interior wall in dining area and to the table clothes would not do harm so to give this lovely restaurant a better ambiance to compliment the rest.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at South Port Villa as we were welcomed by what seems the owner or family member, moved to the order smoothly. Whilst we shared a maltese platter bigilla it tasted delicious along with the local gbejniet and pickled onions. I order as a main, fresh fish which was cooked to perfection. I felt that the meal was only weak on providing choice of side dishes. My husband order seafood platter which was abundant on his plate and he enjoyed devour his meal. We were full but kept room for some dessert. Waitress offer a large selection of sweets to choose from and chose a strawberry cheesecake which was genuinely made and lovely to eat. Waiters were busy so at times we had to remind them our presence and ended up asking for dessert. Ambience is good finishing touches are needed like soft background music and maybe some decor on the table. Thumbs up surely would consider to go and dine there next time around.

Let's start from ambience; going to M'xlokk seafront = going to M'xlokk seafront: you know the ambience you WANT. FUll stop. So I got exactly what I wished for, which makes it very good. Service - slow to start, but then we did arrive at 22:20, so the entire team must have been whacked - however: after that it was attentive, genuine, discreet and with a true smile, meaningful and not put on.Finally the food - well... we had aljotta, and thank God (& the chef!) it was TRUE aljotta, not that failed, would-be bouilleabaisse many restaurants serve, mangling the fine tradition of Maltese cuisine. Followed a dish with NZ mussels, giant prawns, alici, battered fresh calamari rings, battered makku (what a lovely change from neonati or whitebait!) and a lovely, thick, grilled, moist swordfish steak! Deep fried items were beautifully non-oily, as they ought to be! A crisp, clean side salad and perfect French fries tied it up nicely. The price? Embarrassingly low so I left a big tip. Proset!

It was a nice evening at Southport. No problem using Gusto. Regarding food, this was really good and very well presented. I had salmon and my wife took octopus. Both were very well cooked and delicious. Service was impeccable and ambience nice and family friendly. I recommend this place.

Was kind to accept Gusto discount without prior booking. Kalata pizza was good although prawns were missing. Price of fish was not given as per 100g as usual, for example price of an Awrata was rounded exactly to 20 Euro. When we walked past the restaurant next door the Awrata was listed for around 10 euro :(. The fish was good though so no complaints there and nothing beats sitting outside on a beautiful day to take in the view. Will visit again.
